Romain

​Romain obtained his BSc from INSA (Lyon, France) in 2009 and his MSc from ESTP (Paris) in 2012. He has four years' experience as a civil engineer in France and in New Caledonia. His previous works has included seismic assessment of nuclear power plants, numerical modelling and foundation design.

Research Title: Effect of ground improvement on seismic site amplification and soil-foundation-structure response.

Project Summary: Parametric site response analyses are performed over a range of soil conditions and ground motion intensities to outline the influence of improved soil extent on site amplification factors and discuss the mitigation strategies at the early stage of the design process. The capabilities of constitutive soil models are evaluated using vertical arrays and a new formulation is proposed to perform frequency-dependent equivalent linear analysis
