In 2016, after spending 8 years working in the oil industry, I decided to make a career change and go back to school to put my degree in the pursuit of strengthening our understanding of landslides risk and society.

Managing the risk, not the disaster. Building Community Capacity in the face of landslide risk.

Research Title: Managing the risk, not the disaster. Building Community Capacity in the face of landslide risk.

Project Summary: The Rohingya Refugee population was displaced to an unfamiliar environment and had to quickly adapt to reduce the risk of small landslides caused by the quick settlement and urbanization of forestry land. A landslide storybook was developed to introduce landslide risk, and help build capacity for landslides in the largest refugee camp in the world. We try to address the landslide risk and by managing it through community understanding and mitigating the effects of a rapid and informal settlement.
