 Rebecca is a geotechnical engineer for Beca, based in Nelson. She has worked as a consultant since 2012 and completed a Masters of Engineering through University of Auckland between 2016-2018 while working part-time.

Review and extension of the New Zealand historic database of liquefaction observations from large earthquakes occurring in the past 150 years.  ME 2017 Nick studied at The University of Canterbury between 2010 and 2015, completing his undergraduate degree in geology before undertaking a post graduate diploma in Engineering Geology. After graduating, Nick worked for Tonkin & Taylor in Christchurch; at the time Christchurch was still in the early stages of recovery from the Canterbury Earthquakes. Tonkin & Taylor was heavily involved with the associated research spawning from the earthquakes, and Nick found himself working largely on the resulting research associated with liquefaction. This work and Tonkin & Taylor's connections with the University of Auckland (UoA) eventually lead Nick to Undertake a Masters in Engineering, funded by QuakeCore and with Liam Wotherperson as his supervisor. After completing his Masters, Nick continued to work for Tonkin & Taylor in Auckland, then left for his OE in late 2017. While overseas Nick worked for Wood Environment and Infrastructure in Seattle, WA, USA; a seismically active region which allowed him to continue developing his liquefaction knowledge. Nick returned to NZ in late 2019 and now works for ENGEO Ltd in Auckland.

PhD 2017 After completion of my PhD at the University of Auckland I’ve been focused on developing my understanding of the construction industry in New Zealand with a special focus on foundations. I’ve worked as a project engineer on several infrastructure and multi-storey building projects in the Auckland region. In these projects my technical background had proven helpful in developing smart solutions for problems faced during construction.

Jin studied a conjoint Bachelor of Art and Science degree at Auckland University with a major in Geology, Geography and a specialisation in Environmental Science. She went on to study her Honours and Masters in Earth Sciences with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering and Geophysics. Jin has worked with ENGEO as an Engineering Geologist for 4 years before working for Auckland Council as a Development Engineer. Dynamic characterisation of central Auckland reclamation zone. |
