 Born and grown up in Germany, I did my Bachelor and Master studies in Civil Engineering at the Technische Universitaet Berlin. In 2017, I decided to move to New Zealand and to start my PhD in earthquake engineering at the University of Auckland. I enjoy learning new things every day and spending most of my leisure time outdoors exploring New Zealand.
Seismic exposure and impacts across New Zealand infrastructure networks.  Romain obtained his BSc from INSA (Lyon, France) in 2009 and his MSc from ESTP (Paris) in 2012. He has four years' experience as a civil engineer in France and in New Caledonia. His previous works has included seismic assessment of nuclear power plants, numerical modelling and foundation design.
Effect of ground improvement on seismic site amplification and soil-foundation-structure response.  Hui Zhou did her BE of Civil Engineering in PLA University of Science and Technology (now is Army Engineering University of PLA) in China. She continues the study as a PhD candidate in the area of geotechnical engineering after obtained the Master degree in the Civil and Environment Engineering Department at the University of Auckland. Prior to her Master, she worked as a structural engineer with several types of structures.
Assessment of empirical soil property correlations for New Zealand soils.  Dr. Forcellini completed his master’s degree with laude from the University of Bologna in Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2006. His master’s thesis, titled, “Studi di Interazione Terreno–Struttura (Study of Soil Structure Interaction)” was collaboratively developed at the University of California, San Diego in collaboration with Prof. Ahmed Elgamal and Dr. Jinchi Lu.
Numerical Simulations of Soil Structure Interaction: the assessment of the seismic vulnerability of Wellington CBD.  Pavan did his under graduation at IIT-BHU, Varanasi, India and graduated from it in 2010. He then worked as an Assistant Manager for 2 years at Reliance Infrastructure, India in 2 – 4000MW thermal power plants. Later, he moved to USA to complete his MS in Structural Engineering at NC State University. There he was awarded a full departmental research scholarship and worked on various research projects related to FRP, Non-destructive testing of Materials, and Bridge test inspections etc. After completing his Masters in 2014, he moved to Manhattan, New York, to further his career as a structural engineer designing high rise buildings. 99 Hudson in NJ, 15 East 30th street, NY etc. are some of the projects he worked on. He then moved to Auckland, NZ in 2017 to pursue his PhD. He is now a Ph.D. Candidate and QuakeCoRE scholar at the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Auckland.
In-situ Characterization of New Zealand Bridges.  In 2016, after spending 8 years working in the oil industry, I decided to make a career change and go back to school to put my degree in the pursuit of strengthening our understanding of landslides risk and society.
Managing the risk, not the disaster. Building Community Capacity in the face of landslide risk.  Rob has worked as an economic researcher and analyst at Market Economics since April 2011. There he has helped develop regional economic models and the integrated economic - land use model called the Integrated Scenarios Explorer (ISE). In his spare time, Rob also chairs the board of Engineers Without Borders NZ, a role he has had since August 2017.
Application of an integrated land use - economic model to simulating the impact and response to the Māngere Bridge volcanic eruption scenario.  Subhechha is currently undertaking her Masters by Research in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Auckland. Born and raised in Kathmandu- capital of country Nepal, she received her Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Tribhuvan University. She has since been working in the same field, covering projects for seismic hazard and risk assessment, and disaster risk reduction and planning, in cases of earthquake and flood disasters. Her focus has been on supporting infrastructural resilience through understanding of ground conditions and damage mechanisms of infrastructures and major lifelines.
Modelling of the dynamic response of the Whirokino Viaduct.  I completed my Bachelor studies in Malaysia, the country where I was born and brought up in. After completing my degree, I worked as a graduate civil engineer doing reinforced concrete and structural steel design for a consulting firm in a few residential and commercial projects. Subsequently, I did my Masters and continued with my PhD in 2017 looking at the seismic response of bridge structures in New Zealand as part of the country’s lifeline infrastructure system.
