PhD 2017 After completion of my PhD at the University of Auckland I’ve been focused on developing my understanding of the construction industry in New Zealand with a special focus on foundations. I’ve worked as a project engineer on several infrastructure and multi-storey building projects in the Auckland region. In these projects my technical background had proven helpful in developing smart solutions for problems faced during construction.

Deeper understanding of the current stock of wharf structures around New Zealand.

Research Title:
Deeper understanding of the current stock of wharf structures around New Zealand.
Project Summary: My research was focused on developing a deeper understanding of the current stock of wharf structures around New Zealand and utilising that information to develop generic wharf typologies. These typologies were modelled and their seismic response studied. The bases of these models was a detailed 2D finite element model of a wharf in Lyttelton Port. This wharf experience significant displacement during the Canterbury Sequence of seismic events. The model combined the surrounding geotechnical environment and the structural elements of the wharf thereby capturing the soil-structure interaction which is critical to the accurate modelling of the observed response. A fragility analysis was conducted on the generic wharf typologies to understand the predicted damage with increasing seismic intensity. https://researchspace.auckland.ac.nz/handle/2292/33900
